Italy
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Italy
Language: Official language is Italian.
Plugs: The plugs in Italy are types C, F, and L. Type C has two round pins, type F has two round pins and two earth clips on either side, and type L has three round pins.
Currency: Euro. The abbreviation is EUR. For a quick conversion check, my go to’s are Google and XE Currency Converter. XE also has a great app.
Cash or Card?: Italy is still somewhat cash based, so definitely keep some on hand. However, you will find many instances in shops and restaurants where card is accepted.
Best Time To Visit: May to June and September to October have the best weather, but it is also peak season, which means expensive and crowded. This season goes throughout the summer in the north. For the best prices, aim for winter through early spring.
How Long Should I Go For?: I could spend forever exploring Italy! To see the highlights of the whole country, I would say two and a half to three weeks. If you prefer to spend more time in a particular region, you can see a lot in a week to two weeks. Need help planning your next trip? Check out some of my guides here and the bucket list here!
What To Bring: The weather in Italy during the summer is sunny, hot, and dry, and in the winter cooler and wet. This is especially true the more north you are. Check out some of my essentials here.
